In this article, we will go through the steps to update SOLIDWORKS service packs (e.g. 2022 SP1.0 to SP4.0) .(This does not include newer year versions e.g. 2022 SP5.0 to 2023 SP5.0)
Procedure 1:(using SOLIDWORKS, check for updates feature)
Step 1: Open the SOLIDWORKS help menu in SOLIDWORKS (Top right)
Step 2: Navigate to "Check for Updates".
Once selected, SOLIDWORKS installation manager will open noting the newer version of SOLIDWORKS that will be installed. Please note that this is only one service pack newer than the currently installed service pack)
Step 3: The SOLIDWORKS Installation manager will open. (You now need to close your SOLIDWORKS)
Step 4: Click on "Next" to start the installation of the newer service pack.
Step 5: A message will appear stating a Windows reboot is pending, click on "OK" to continue with the installation.
Step 6: Select the "Install on this computer" option and click on "Next."
Step 7: The window will allow you to select the products you want to update. If nothing needs to be changed, accept the terms of SOLIDWORKS and click on "Download and Install".
Step 8: The update will then download and be installed.
Step 9: A dialog will open asking if you want to join the SOLIDWORKS Customer Experience Improvement Program. Select the applicable option and click "Finish".
Step 10: Your SOLIDWORKS is now updated.
Procedure 2:(Downloading the files from SOLIDWORKS customer portal)
Step 1: Navigate to the SOLIDWORKS customer portal and log into your account.
Step 2: Locate the Downloads Tab and select the "Downloads and Updates" option.
Step 3: Select the SOLIDWORKS service pack you would like to install by selecting "SOLIDWORKS Products" next to the applicable Service pack.
Step 4: Click on "Accept Agreement & Continue".
Step 5: Click on "Download"
Step 6: A SolidWorksSetup.exe file will be downloaded. When running this file, it will ask to unzip as well as a location for the file to unzip to. Select the applicable file location and select "Unzip"
Step 7: Open the newly created "sldim folder" and run the "sldIM.exe" application.
Step 8: Follow Procedure 1 from Step 5 to complete the upgrade.
