SOLIDWORKS has transitioned its backend from the Customer Portal to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform (more information here). As part of this change, the process for submitting enhancement and feature requests has also been updated. These requests are no longer handled through service requests — they are now submitted directly through a dedicated community on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.
A community on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform functions as a message board or forum. Through this community, you can share ideas and enhancement requests directly with the SOLIDWORKS team. Submissions use the "Idea" post type — the official format for enhancement requests. The SOLIDWORKS team reviews each idea and evaluates it for implementation based on its potential value to the broader SOLIDWORKS user community. The steps to submit your idea are outlined below.
The community can be accessed here or here. Both links will redirect to the same community where you will be prompted to sign in with your 3DPassport. If you do not yet have a 3DPassport, you can register for one here.
Once signed in, the page will redirect to the Enhancement Ideas Community.
Once in the community, you will see both existing ideas and a pinned "START HERE" post. To submit a new idea, you must use the official idea submission form — the only supported submission method. To access the form, click "CLICK HERE" within the "START HERE" post. Before submitting, read the full “START HERE” post carefully, as it contains important guidelines for structuring your idea.
Tip: Ideas that follow the recommended idea format receive more visibility and community engagement.
On the submission form, fill in all the required fields describing your idea, then click Submit.
Once submitted, your idea will appear in the Enhancement Ideas Community, where you can track its status as the SOLIDWORKS team reviews it.
You can also like or comment on your own ideas and those submitted by other users. Doing so helps boost ideas in the review queue and allows you to contribute additional context or information.
