[Assembly](https://faq.mecad.co.za/knowledge/general-faq?hsLang=en#assembly) # Blank/Empty Assembly in SOLIDWORKS ## The entire assembly disappears when trying to rotate the assembly to get a different view and/or to insert a new component. A SOLIDWORKS assembly disappearing or going blank when rotated is almost always caused by one or more components being placed very far from the assembly's base origin, which pushes the model outside the visible clipping plane. Use the steps below to identify and correct the offending component. ## Why does a SOLIDWORKS assembly disappear or go blank when rotating? - It usually happens when the origin of the fixed component is placed very far away from the base origin - It also happens if one or more components are located very far away from other components (i.e., random or accidental placement of the components) ## How do you troubleshoot a disappearing or non-rotating SOLIDWORKS assembly? Press "F" on the keyboard, this will fit the assembly to the screen, if it goes blank it is a good indication that this is the issue. ### Method 1: Using SOLIDWORKS Performance Evaluation 1. Open **Performance Evaluation** by navigating to **Tools \> Evaluate \> Performance Evaluation** in the SOLIDWORKS menu bar. 2. Under "Display Performance", a warning will be displayed stating that one or more components are located far away. You will be given the option to fix it, which eliminates the search process. 3. Suppress all the components except the first one. 2. "Zoom to fit" on the first component. 3. Un-suppress the rest of the components one by one and repeat step 2 for each of the components. 4.
